study released today by Canon shows, among other things, that companies have been slow to make available to users the necessary technology to new ways of working. Despite the efforts of companies to try to reduce the consumption of paper, printed materials still figure prominently, along with the growing volume of electronic documents. However, it is more the way employees want to create and manage their documents is changing due to the flexibility in the way we work, mobility and the consumerization of technology equipment. However, according to this study, European companies are struggling to provide their employees with the technologies they need to work easily on the move. Indeed, only a minority of them, certainly not negligible, equips its employees with smartphones (20%) or tablets (9%). Those who are already using them on some it is essential to their work tools. Respondents are also a majority want advice and support of their IT department to maximize productivit y in the office or on the move.
Securing documents: a poorly integrated need
ensure safety during processing of documents is also a key issue. The study revealed a gap between what is expected by the end users and what is offered to them by their IT department. Over two-thirds of employees surveyed manage confidential or sensitive documents printing is performed on devices accessible to all (78%). Users think that their company efficiently manages document security when in reality, less than 5% of decision makers say that safety is a criterion in the choice of printing materials, copy or scan.
A lack of communication between users and makers
The study also reveals that employees feel excluded from the selection process technologies available to them by the company. European employees want to be mobile (third working distance) and some would be very favorable to the idea of ??using their laptop (31%) or smartphone (26%) staff for business purposes (BYOD).
