Recall campaign for D-SLR Canon EOS-1D X/EOS-1D C - HDblog (Blog)

Into eos1dc

Canon has launched a recall campaign for D-SLR EOS-1D and EOS-1D X C . They are in fact having problems with some specimens, because of the amount of lubricant applied to the operating mechanism, which over time can lead to develop some abnormal behavior. The problems and the procedure to identify patterns potentially affected by the malfunction, are the following official statement.

Problems encountered :

  1. AF performs the search but no locks on the subject
(due to tiny particles produced by wear due to lubrication inconsistent as previously described).
  2. The image in the viewfinder is “blurry” or “non-fixed”
(occurs with the advancement of wear).

identification algorithm :

  1. EOS-1D X: If the sixth digit from the left of the serial number is “1″, “2″, “3″, “4″, “5″, “6″ or “7 “, you may experience the phenomena described above.
  2. EOS-1D C: If the sixth digit from the left of the serial number is “1″, you may experience the phenomena described above.

It also highlighted the fact that, if the battery compartment of the camera contains a symbol precise, the camera is not affected by the factors described above, even if the sixth digit of the serial number is one of the numbers listed above.

Symbols cameras not involved :
