LAS VEGAS – JJ Henry has stalled a putt from 50 feet from the frieze of the last green for an eagle and shot a 60 (minus-11), Thursday, propelling the head by a blow to the “Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

Henry had nine birdies on the course TPC Summerlin, posting his best round of his career. The American, who has won two tournaments on the PGA Tour, has surpassed the course record. He however, could not beat the best round of the tournament’s history _ 59 by Chip Beck in 1991 on the course of the Sunrise Golf Club.

Henry began his round on the 10th tee, and he birdied the 12th, 15th, 16th and 17th holes. It has maintained its momentum on the back nine with birdies on No. 2 green, 4, 6 and 8, before crowning his performance with an eagle on the ninth, a par-5.

“I finally rigged a few putts, Henry said. I’ve always felt to be a good hitter, and when I managed a few putts I seem to climb in the standings.

“And I obviously hit more good shots today, and some very close to the cup, but it was nice to have been able to achieve some of them, especially the latter for an eagle ninth, my 18th hole. I’m just trying to send it somewhere towards the green way to stick the ball near the hole, but it’s always a bonus when it disappears. “

previous best round Henry on the PGA Tour was 61 (under-10) at the Phoenix Open in 2006.

“Obviously, this is the kind of week where you must pass very low scores, explained Henry. And there are still several rounds, but it is a nice to succeed so early in the tournament to see if we can build it. You (should) play somewhere between 15 and 20 (under par for 72 holes) for a chance to win, and I think the field is there. “

Argentine Andres Romero is second. He made two eagles en route to a score of 61.

James Driscoll, Jonathan Byrd and Jeff Overton are all 63. Webb Simpson took a shot back at 64.

Stephen Ames of Calgary is part of a group of five golfers who completed the course in 65 strokes.

His compatriot

Saskatchewan Graham DeLaet, who made a comeback after taking a break following the Presidents Cup, settled for a 72, as Mike Weir of Bright’s Grove, Ontario . David Hearn of Brantford, Ontario, got the worst result of the day (77).
