Canon EOS 70D autofocus' double pixel "for innovative video - Clubic

Canon has finally announced the EOS 70D, the new high-end cameras aimed at the general public. Three years after its predecessor, it is a revival, with several interesting innovations.

An innovative autofocus sensor

The Canon EOS 70D particularly inaugurates a process of developing innovative new sensor based on a “Double AF CMOS pixels”.

Sensor APS-C photograph of 20 million pixels, but there are 40 million photodiodes. Each of the twenty million microlenses on the sensor surface actually covers two photodiodes, which allows to carry out a development phase detection on virtually all of the sensor.
