birth of a royal baby is a matter of tradition in the United Kingdom. The birth of the son of Prince William and Princess Kate was greeted by 103 guns, Tuesday, July 23 in London. The gunfire rang out across the British capital, after the birth of the prince, third in line to the throne.

The number of shots is determined by the protocol. Twenty guns were first fired from Green Park, near Buckingham Palace to greet the birth of Prince Cambridge , and twenty-one others to Queen Elizabeth II. Then, sixty-two shots rang out in the Thames at the foot of the Tower of London. Twenty for the young royal highness, twenty-one for his great grandmother and twenty-one for the city.
