Build quality and ergonomics

weighs 580 grams and about the design is similar to the 600D, the body is made of plastic, but all in all pretty solid and well assembled. Despite being an entry-level, the first feeling you get when you pick up is positive, there are many control buttons on the body, all easily accessible and very intuitive. In front of the hot shoe, the two stereo microphones are positioned. New in this 700D is the shooting mode dial that now runs continuously, while this was not the case on the 650D. Whichever mode you choose, you will still easily switch to video mode through a switch, the same for on and off the camera. There is also a full range of connectors, including: USB ports and HDMI , the sockets for a shutter release cable and an external microphone and a receiver for the remote control infrared.

Performance

The images are of great quality and for the presence of detail for dynamic range. In most situations, the exposure is almost always correctly even with the automatic white balance, only in certain situations tends to overexpose a bit ‘. The Digic 5 processor allows multiple processing capabilities of the JPEG format as the correction for lens flaws: chromatic aberrations, vignetting, and more. With 9 cross type points the focus is fast and accurate even in low light and moving subjects, it also has a continuous shooting speed of 5fps . A little ‘slow focus in liveview mode. Among the various shooting modes, stands the “Handheld Night Scene”, which allows the recovery of low-light scenes without using a tripod. It does this by enabling a faster shutter speed and capturing four exhibitions which are then combined to reduce the image noise. In this mode, the ISO sensitivity is automatically set at high levels and this can cause an increase in noise, but well controlled. The final image will be sharp even if there is a loss of detail. The image quality is excellent up to ISO 1600, above this value there is a progressive, but minimum degradation, however, clearly visible around ISO 6400.

Ratings

The challenge of Canon is to offer the traditional features of a digital SLR with an intuitive interface especially for novice users. It guarantees good performance with minimal effort. If you are in possession of the EOS-650D consider upgrading to this model useless.
