Photokina 2012 – Well, now we know all about the second full frame DSLR, compact and lightweight with a more affordable price that promises to make waves (slowly) in an industry-first attended only by a few professional photographers and enthusiasts with a rich budget. The presentation in Cologne of Canon 6D EOS comes a few days those of competitor Nikon D600 (read our presentation). The prices, to tell the truth, we expected them lower for both machines, but we are confident that this is just the beginning: the competition, the market, the arrival of full frame models of other brands will do the rest. The “full frame DSLR for all”? This is, perhaps, no, but the “full frame DSLR for many” will come.
The Canon EOS 6D shows a new full frame CMOS sensor 20.2 megapixels and the processor DIGIC 5 + (as on the Canon 5D Mk III). The 11-point autofocus system has a single cross-type sensor (f / 2,8).A AF system which, according to Canon, has a precision and speed, in the shots in low light, better AF system than any seen before in an EOS. “The auto focus – Canon says – is reliable up to -3 EV, the equivalent of moonlight.”
The ISO range – 100 to 25.600 – expandable to ISO 50-102400. Into Reflex important turning point in the history of the Canon, for many reasons, the 6D is the first EOS SLR to offer both the built-in GPS as the Wi-Fi , for easy photo sharing on social networks, or to transfer them to a PC or to a cloud service. GPS and Wi-Fi are also available for the Nikon D600, but such an option, you are charged separately.
Machine Body Strong
The Canon 6D measuring 144,5 x110, 5×71, 2 mm. The weight of the camera body is only 690 grams of (ready to shoot, the car weighs, however, 770 grams). The most compact full frame EOS ever is, however, a strong reflex: magnesium in the body, seals against dust and moisture, buttons to control the functions solids.
The display 3-inch LCD is the type Clear View, the anti-glare solution allows viewing even in bright sunlight and at extreme angles. The screen resolution is 1,040,000 points.
Viewfinder has a coverage of 97% and a magnification of 0.71 x.

The Advantages of the Full Frame Sensor
It ‘mandatory photographed with a machine equipped with a full frame sensor? Absolutely not, with an SLR (or mirrorless) APS-C there is often more than enough. But the full frame offers something more: a minor presence of “noise” in photos taken in low light, more control over depth of field (background blur more pronounced with the subject in evidence) and a more efficient use of the range of objectives wide-angle, in the case of Canon EF. For example, the excellent 24-70 mm f / 2.8, when mounted on an APS-C is equivalent to 38.4 to 112 mm. You earn something on the canvas, which becomes a portrait lens, but you lose 24 mm, 28 mm, 35 mm. With full frame, however, all three are there. In short, no longer have to worry about the “conversion factor” for the optics.
14 Bit RAW – Shutter Speed ??
The machine offers all the manual controls and support for 14-bit RAW format. The maximum shutter speed is 4.5 shots per second.
Among the features:
– Video Recording : Full HD 1080/24p, 25p, or 30p (or 720/60p) with mono sound, manual controls available, input for external stereo microphone;
– The HDR mode – allows to read the details in the highlights and shadows in difficult lighting situations, while multiple exposures allow the photographer to combine up to nine separate exposures into a single image directly “in the room”, to create a final image with a dramatic effect;
– The silent mode Drive provides a solution for the recovery of spontaneous portraits or wedding photos;
– Electronic Level single-axis, which is accessible through the viewfinder or via the LCD screen, ensures horizons “on the bubble” during the composition of the image;
– improved a RAW file in the Room .
Sharing Easy thanks to Wi-Fi
Images can be transferred wirelessly to external storage devices, load on Facebook and YouTube , or print wirelessly using Canon MFP or printer with Wi-Fi. Alternatively, images and movies can be viewed on DLNA-compatible HDTVs. By connecting the camera wirelessly to a smartphone, photographers can remotely control the scene, adjusting shooting settings and focus, activating the shutter and then viewing the image obtained.
With integrated GPS EOS 6D, the images can be tagged with location data at the time of shooting. Travelers can also achieve a fuller record of their journey with the GPS logger function, which allows you to view the route using the supplied Map Utility software.
EOS 6D will be on sale from December 2012. For now we have the Prices for the USA: $ 2,099 for the camera body only, $ 2899 for the kit with zoom 24-105 mm IS f / 4.
