Into From a motivational standpoint, the world of amateur is divided into two major categories: brand loyalists , consumers who constantly inform on all new outputs of your favorite brand, and tightrope budget , for instance those that set a maximum quota of spending trying to figure out what the market offers good.
Into Good Without this premise we can say that the new Canon Eos 70D is perhaps one of the few cameras on the market today that can wink at both “parties”: true for a Canon Canonists but also aims to excel in its specific market segment (that of reflex cameras between 1000 and 1500 € ). We are talking about, for those who have not yet understood, the heir of the Canon Eos 60D, the middlerange par excellence of the portfolio of the Japanese house, a car that has the delicate task of making the watershed between the entry-level Group (Eos 700D, EOS 100D) and the prosumer models and semi-professional (5D-6D-7D).
Into Panorama.it had the chance to try it for a few days to make some shots and cut some impressions:
BEAUTY
feeling the grip is much better than the EOS 60D. Working on finishes and grip Canon has raised the bar quite a bit. Now the distance from 7D is not so obvious: indeed, for sizing, rational controls and displays (great the swivel screen 3-inch touch screen ) the 70D seemed to us even higher.
To be a mid-range SLR, the EOS 70D is all too full of adjustments, especially inside. The amateur photographer who likes to work on manual settings, in short, has something to indulge themselves. It is useful in this regard the presence of the aforementioned touch-screen which has the great merit of simplifying the setting more immediate, especially when working in Live View.
Eos 70D incorporates a new CMOS sensor 20.2 megapixel APS-C that combined with the DIGIC 5 allows you to capture images in full resolution up to 7 frames per second , with a burst that reaches 65 JPEG or 16 RAW images. Really a good step forward compared to the 60D. The native range extends from 100 to 12,800 ISO in the practical test noise it seemed modest compared to the 6400 ISO.
using the optical viewfinder, the system focus to 19 points proves very responsive and accurate, both in shooting and in the static sport and nature. Look for (and find) the fire aiming for the goal of a bird of prey that we are hurtling over the head at full speed is not a mission impossible.
CONNECTIVITY ‘
Without make choices revolutionary Canon Eos 70D gave the right to communicate with the outside. Directly or wireless (via the integrated Wi-Fi module ), the camera can in fact transfer images to your PC to a TV or a printer, upload content on web services (CANON iMAGE GATEWAY) – or through the ‘free app EOS Remote – connect with a smartphone or a tablet and be remotely controlled in all its main functions (including ISO, exposure, focus and shutter).
A good reason we can say: who wants to make a balanced investment but is nevertheless able to ensure a good seal over time can find the right balance in the 70D. For an undisclosed amount exorbitant ( 1184 € body only ), Canon offers all the amenities of the case (and maybe some more), both in the camera than video. It is mainly on the latter front – thanks to the use of the new technology double photodiode per pixel – the Eos 70D can raise its voice before the competition. On the connectivity you could not be more daring, but the presence of Wi-Fi in any case guarantees sufficient opening to the world of the Web and remote control via smartphone or tablet. The impression is that with some proper perspective (and here – between motorized and non – yo u’ll be spoiled for choice), for someone might this could also be the ultimate machine. At least until they overtake the desire (or claim) to pass to the world of semi-professional.
