XA10 was a success for Canon, though it lacked some basic functions, such as progressive modes and especially 50p. The XA20 fills the gaps and x20 zoom allows him to supplement or even replace the handheld camcorders. For the professional or amateur, the question must be asked to acquire the XA20 or HF G30. There are a handful, its XLR and postponed orders, infrared mode and about 500 euros difference.
There is no doubt that this camera will be successful at professionals who want a second camera or use SLR for some filming but still need a small camcorder for shooting “moving.” This is also probably the goal of Canon EOS equip videographers C and XA. The common video formats between the EOS C100 and XA20 is however limited to AVCHD, then we would have seen the H.264 at 35 Mbps as a unifying these machines if different.
Keeping a price reasonable in a compact format and with stabilization and zoom range that is lacking in video cameras, Canon is cleverly positioned so as not to face competition from its own devices.
