We deal in this review, the flagship Canon EOS, the EOS 1D X . This is not a recent product: it was announced in late 2011. So why review it now?
The answer is that we have only recently got to try it “really”. A camera like the EOS 1D X, devoted to sports photography, in fact, can not be exhaustively tested with a test in the studio, shooting at targets in controlled lighting. In this way it would tell only half the story – incidentally, in this case, half less important. What is needed is the right person, the right to park optical layout and … the experience of a professional, which can indicate a working methodology realistic. All this has been reflected at the Workshop Canon Academy “Photography Action” held by Professor Alexander Tiraboschi Canon Certificate (this is his facebook page) that we take this opportunity to thank for his availability and professionalism. Here then is the genesis of this article.
Canon EOS 1D X – Machine body
The product itself needs no introduction: the EOS 1D X is the largest full-frame SLR, fast and robust range Canon today . Everything in this product, is devoted to speed. Consequently, although the EOS 1D X can naturally be used profitably to tackle any photographic genre, only in sports and nature expresses its full potential .
The machine has been tested with different optics. The studio shots (target and still-life) were carried out with the traditional EF 24-70mm F2.8 L, optics used by us to other EOS camera bodies. The pictures on the field were instead taken mainly with the EF 70-200mm F2.8 L, but also with the new EF 200-400mm F4 L IS, the EF 200mm F2 L, with the EF 8-15mm Fisheye and with the EF 300mm F2.8L IS II.
The list price at the time of writing (body only) is equal to 6685.71 Euro . The product is on the road at around 6000 Euro (official version Italy).
