The presence of sharks were reported in Poste Lafayette on Sunday morning by the National Coast Guard (NCG). It was during a patrol that coastguard noticed sharks at least one meter long.
They then asked the audience present at the scene to be careful. Especially the beaches are crowded in upon tourists and Mauritians.Coast Guard and traveled the beach to ask parents to ensure their children.
They have also given order not to venture into the surf. The National Coast Guard through the Police Press Office issued a press release to alert the public about this danger. This alert sharks attracted many people in Poste Lafayette. “I am aware of the presence of sharks in Poste Lafayette on the radio and as I was in the corner, I immediately came here,” said a resident of Mare-d’Albert.Gerard, a local fisherman, the presence of sharks in this area is not a surprise. An officer of the National Coast Guard told the Matinal that “compared to Reunion, Mauritius, shark attacks are very minimal, and the Coast Guard shall ensure that there is no incident” .
However, the officer of the NCG has insisted that the Coast Guard are on alert and Monday morning they will do a tour again to ensure that there is no shark around.
He also stated that that is, specifically La Passe Canon, that sharks were seen at high tide. And remember that in 1999 in Poste Lafayette, a man was fatally injured by a shark.
